Why does Helium make your voice sound funny?

I was pondering this question in my mind as I was driving in the car today, because Nathan sounds like he's constantly sucking helium now. I'm not sure if it's due to his swollen throat or what, but his voice seems 3 octaves higher.

So Why does your voice sound funny when you suck helium?
To get my answer, google'd it.

Are you ready to know the answer????
Here it is!

To make a long answer short,
Sound travels faster in helium so the vibrations will get from your vocal chords to your mouth quicker so your throat will resonate at a higher frequency and hence a higher pitch.
