Change of Command Ceremony

Today we had a Change of Command ceremony at the Motorpool where Matt works.
Cpt. Alvarado is relinquishing his command, and Cpt. Butler is taking his place.

We met Matt at the Motorpool around 10:30, and brought all the kids.
They had fun having relay races to and from the trucks.
I figured I might as well let them get their energy out.
They can't hurt anything there but themselves!
The ceremony started promptly at 1100.
Here is Echo Company in formation
Can you find Matt???
THERE HE IS!
(3rd man back)
((AB looks like he's gonna eat Matt's face off!!)

I even took a video of their drill & ceremony:

Very nice.
So then, we all stood for the National Anthem

Now this next part can be a little bit confusing, so follow closely...
Even though you can't read it, from left to right the people are:
CPT. BUTLER (the new Echo Company Commander)
1SGT BEASLEY (the first sergeant)
COL. BAKER (the battalion commander)
CPT. ALVARADO (the old Echo Company Commander)

Now here's how this works...

The 1SGT passes the E Co. Flag to the Company Commander...:

...who passes it to the Battalion Commander, relinquishing his command...:
...who passes it to the NEW Company Commander, accepting the command...:

...who passes it back to her 1SGT.

And THERE YOU HAVE IT!
Your new Command!
It's as simple as that! ;o)

Then we got to hear Colonel Baker speak...
And then Captain Alvarado spoke...Here... why don't you LISTEN to Cpt. Alvarado speak

Then Captain Butler spoke...

And meanwhile, I was taking pictures of the soldiers, and found Aaron Hite!
HI AARON!

And here's the new Company Commander in front of her new company!

Then we sang the Army Song...

...and then ate and went home :o)

I like seeing this stuff. Thanks for sharing. In the second picture of the company - the one that's closer up - what's with the guy with his mouth open really wide? Funny.
