Nathan's 5th Birthday

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY
!!!NATHAN!!!

Yes, today our baby boy Nathan turned five.
It seems like just yesterday that we brought our beautiful baby boy
home from the hospital:

(LOL! at the picture of Nathan when he was a baby!)

He went to school where they made him a birthday crown, and he passed out goody bags to all of his classmates. And lucky for us, it was also the same day of the 3-25 AVN Family Fun Day!!So after all the kids got out of school, we headed over to Wheeler for the festivities.

First, we got to see a "Contact Truck"
Apparently, it's a tool tuck, and Matt has one...

Then we went in and tried our hand at aiming the MK 19
Daddy had to show us how it's done
Here's Kenzie trying
Nathan's in the background shooting the M2 .50 Cal
Then we went over for our TATTOOS!
Nathan's first tattoo was a rocket ship!
(see his birthday crown from school?) here's tat #2
Here's Matthew getting his
here's the Nan's lady bug tattoo

and McKenzie's pretty flower tattoo

Matthew & Ryan found eachother, as always

and Nathan found a cupcakeThen we got the privilege of taking a ride in an MTV
aka
Medium Tactical Vehicle
aka
"Troop Carrier"
EVERYBODY has to wear their kevlar!
(the little girl next to Natalie is Janise, a friend from her preschool class)

Kenz & Matthew (and Zoey) ready for a fun ride!

HOOAH!

Nan's was a bit big

Matt was lucky enough to find his OWN kevlar on the truck!

Nathan's birthday crown

Mama sportin' the kevlar

Who DOESN'T love a man in uniform???
I know I DO!

We rode around to the other side of the airfield,
where they dropped us off to look at the chinook helicopters.

Look how BIG it is!

Up close and personal

This is what the inside of a Chinook looks like:

I think the inside looks unfinished

Nathan got to be the helicopter pilot!

Pilot Nannie

Cute Kenzie walking cute Zoey
(p.s. she is still the perfect puppy!)

she was there for like 15 minutes taking pictures)

OUR OHANA!!!

After the Family Fun Day, we headed home to OPEN PRESENTS!!!

First up was the present that he got from Grandma & Grandpa Fergy in the mail the day before. He'd been carrying it around ever since he got it, asking if he could open it yet. So needless to say, he was VERY excited when it was time to open it!

What is it?

He said "Airhogs!" thinking it was the same remote control helicopter that Kenzie & Matthew got from Santa Clause last year, but instead we showed him that it was the SAME kind of helicopter that we saw Daddy fly in from the Big Island on!!! He thought it was very cool!

Here's the VIDEO of Nathan opening his present:

Daddy helped him put it on the stand

THANK YOU GRANDMA & GRANDPA

THEN we found a CHECK inside the helicopter package!!

Cute Kenzie
(don't mind the messy lanai)

The Zo all tuckered out from a long day

Next, Nathan got to open his present from Mommy & Daddy
Do you love the way we wrap presents? We just leave it in the plastic bag and then throw a blanket over it! haha!

I wonder what it is??

"TRANSFORMERS!!!"

When we asked Nathan what he wanted for his birthday,
he'd say "Transformers. Optimus Prime."
So I think it is as close as we could get

A Transformers Optimus Prime Voice Changing Mask/Helmet

Trying it on....

It FITS!

Look at this totally cute video of excited Nathan playing with his new toy,
singing "Happy birthday to me" to himself!

After present time, we let Nathan pick where he wanted to go for dinner.
He picked Burger King at the PX. So we went.

Here's the story behind the picture below:
if you look really close, you can see a vertical red line in between Matt's eyes.
Matt put half a french fry on the end of his chop stick and tried to fling it at me.
It didn't work. But in retaliation, I perfected the fry flick and hit him right in between the eyes with my french fry! We laughed so hard that the whole food court was looking at us!!

After all of the fry flicking at the PX, we bought an ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and took it home for cake & ice cream at the same time!

Here's Nathan with his birthday cake:

He had special NATHAN birthday candles

"Happy birthday to you....."

...make a wish...

....blow out the candles!

He blew em all out with one breath!!!

AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!!!

Here is the Happy Birthday video:

I think Nathan had a great birthday! It was so great, that he even wore his birthday crown to school the next day too!!!

Happy Birthday to our sweet boy Nathan!

Sweet little Nathan. It seems like yesterday that we were in a van with a 6 week old Nathan moving to Idaho. That boy did not like the car seat! Gosh..it doesn't seem so long but here he is FIVE! Happy birthday Nate.

Remember being pregnant together in Port Orchard, I loved that we ended up delivering our two little boys just days apart. It doesn't seem like 5 years ago! Maybe it does when you think of all the moving both of us have done since then, though.
