Trouble In Paradise...

You may have heard on the news about the storm that hit Hawaii. Lots of rain, and really strong winds. The neighborhood got turned upside down with trees falling and powerlines going down, but luckily, we suffered no damage to our house. HOWEVER... the power went out at our house at 3:04am on Wednesday morning, and HAS NOT COME BACK ON!!! We are in the dark!! I'm pretty sure we are the only part of Hawaii without power now. Pretty much everyone's power went out, but most everyone's came back on that same day. But not ours. We live on Schofield Barracks Army Base, and most of the base's power has been restored, except for a little housing area. And we happen to live in that are. Then yesterday afternoon, while wondering if the power would ever come back on, we received a note on our door from the Housing Office saying that it will be another 48 hours until our power will be restored. Very frustrating. All of our food in our fridge and freezer is bad, but on the bright side, this is Hawaii, and we are not cold. SO, we might have power back tomorrow. We're livin in the 1800's!

We are at a friend's house right now enjoying their electricity. Originally, the reason we came over today, was because Matt and Aaron were going to go work on Matt's truck. Since there is no power at our house, Reina said me and the kids could stay over here with her while Matt and Aaron worked on the truck. So Matt and Aaron left, and about 20 minutes later Reina got a phone call from Aaron telling her that they'd just been in a car accident!! Oh... My... GOSH! So apparently a 16 year old girl hit a Jeep, who hit Matt, who hit a lady in front of him. All because of a dumb 16 year old girl. No one was hurt, but the cars suffered some damage.

So on top of having no power, now we had to file a claim with the insurance company to get our car fixed, which means we'll have to get a rental car when our car is in the shop being fixed. Here is our car's damage:

OUCH!

We can't open the rear hatch anymore, and the taillights are obviously broken, but other than that, the car is in good shape. Look at it this way... WE'RE GETTIN A NEW PAINT JOB!! lol! I was actually just talking to Matt the other day about how much a new paint job would cost, and now we get one!! :o) Blessings come in odd ways.

It's been kind of a crazy month I'd say, with the identity theft (taken care of), Matthew's broken arm, 4 days of no power, and a wrecked car! LOL! We don't let stuff like this get us down. It's just life!
