(sorry I don't have a better picture)
She is my Colombian amiga, and one of my closest friends! She moved into our ward not too long ago, and is also one of the leaders for our upcoming Girl's Camp for church. Since she works with the Young Women with me, I got the chance to get to know her a little. And after I found out how close she lives to me (two streets down) it didn't take us long to become BFFs! (Best Friends Forever)
Last Sunday, Maggie's husband Andres (aka "Jimmy") invited us to a surprise birthday party that he was planning for Maggie. It was hard not saying anything to her all week!! Jimmy dropped off the cake and decorations to my house yesterday, so while he took Maggie out to dinner tonight, we went over and decorated their house!!
Here's Chantel (maggie's daughter), Dennise (maggie's sister),
and Matt hard at work decorating!
As the time grew closer for them to come home, the kids kept a close watch on the parking lot
Here is Shenny (maggie's daughter), Kenzie, & Natalie watching for Maggie & Andres
Natalie is practicing her 'surprise' face
Around 8:00pm, they finally came home.
!!!!SURPRISE!!!!!
Maggie was so surprised that she started crying! She was so happy to be surrounded by her closest friends and family.
First thing's first..... THE CAKE!!
Here's Maggie blowing out her candles
Cut the cake!
Here is Manu & Maggie's Papa serving the cake
OOPS! We forgot to take a picture of the cake before it got cut!
Here's Tashina & Denise waiting for their cake(You remember Tashina.... she's the one who got cake smashed in her face by Maggie.... please read on!)
Here are Maggie's friends:
back row starting at the left:
Ku'uipo & Manu Laumatia
Stephanie Nakahara (Eric Nakahara is currently deployed to Iraq defending our freedom)
Matt & Me
"Jimmy" (andres) & Maggie are in the front
Now you know who everybody is (if you didn't already)
Here's all the kids with Maggie!!
After cake it was present time!
"Present time! Present time! Open the present and see what's inside!!!!"
(can you name the tv show that's from? I bet you can if you have kids.)
She got a lot of cute gifts, including the first picture in this blog of her sniffing a candle from Stephanie.
The picture below is the gift from the Laumatia family. Each person wrapped something up that reminded them of her, and then stuck the sticky note to her! VERY CUTE!
After the presents, Maggie requested a salsa dance for her birthday. Jimmy reluctantly accepted her request, and they both went and put on their dancin' shoes!
Here's a VIDEO of Jimmy & Maggie SALSA DANCING!!!
It was so fun to watch them dance! And did you see her high heels??? I can't even WALK in shoes like that, let alone DANCE!! They were amazing!!
And look at this VIDEO of little Manu watching them dance.
I think he was having more fun than they were!
After their dance, the dance floor was open!
Everyone danced while some hid under the table!
Everybody had a really good time, but it was getting late, we were all tired and it was time to go home.
Here's Maggie & Ku'uipo
(Maggie is all tired from all that dancing)
The party was over right?
NO!
DID YOU FORGET???
It was PAYBACK time for Tashina!!
We'd been telling Tashina all night long to get Maggie back for smashing the cake in her face. But the sweet girl that Tashina is, she said no. So when Tashina's family was leaving, Jimmy put the piece of cake in Tashina's hand and told her to do it.
AND SHE DID!!!
Shina went in for the hug, and then smashed the cake in Maggie's face!
Here's the aftermath picture of Maggie with cake all over her face
and up her nose!
While all of the cake smashing was going on, Dennise, Maggie's little sister, was outside laughing her head off. So Maggie shared the love and threw cake in Dennise's hair! LOL!
It was so funny! They are a bunch of party animals! I love this family!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY "MAGGITA MARGARITA MAMACITA"!!
(that's her full Spanish name I've bestowed upon her)
